What are daily habits?

A Holistic Approach to Our Wellness

Mornings are especially significant in our culture. Early morning hours from 4:00 am to 6:00 am are called as “bhrahma muhurat”. It is believed that this is an extremely powerful period where the veil between the physical and the spiritual or the human and the divine consciousness is at its thinnest. Thus, it is known as the time of the Creator and is a very powerful time to create our intentions or sankalpas for the new day before us and awaken our spirituality
Honey & I Morning Connection
Every morning, my husband ‘Honey’ and I rise at always nearly the same time. We lie in bed, for awhile sharing last night’s dreams and thoughts. It’s a really precious moment of connection for both of us before the day unfolds.
Meditation and Mindfulness
Our meditation practice follows no rigid schedule. Sometimes we sit on the bed together, eyes closed, breathing in sync with our own rhythm to the soothing music on Insight Timer App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/insight-timer-meditate-sleep/id337472899. Other times, life’s demands pull us in different directions. But regardless, I find solace daily in my morning restroom meditation or sit outdoors. It’s a quiet sanctuary where I center myself, resisting the urge to reach for my phone or let thoughts flood my mind. I say to myself “i follow my breath, I am free” each times I notice thoughts. For twenty minutes of stillness – this sets the tone for my day ahead.
Practice: Mauna or Silence
Practice ‘mauna’. Don’t talk or even read for the first 20-30 minutes after you get up. (This can be tough for Robert & I🤪) Most of us begin talking to our family members or even attending phone calls or texting. Silence your words and mind.

Do not be in a hurry or in worry. Just be with yourself.
Feet Massages and Architectural Musings
Honey, an architect, and I, a yoga teacher, holistic farmer & youth wellness teacher. So, our day is long we need this moment together. We take turns massaging each other’s back with our feet, strange but yummy feeling. Or we massage each other’s actual feet. It’s a simple act of love and care. Our professions may differ, but our shared commitment to well-being unites us.
Nourishing Our Bodies
While Robert work out on his elliptical machine I get into my yoga stretches or a morning yoga class with yogi students for one hour. Yoga practice interlaces these moments, infusing our home with positive energy.
Practice: Daily affirmations
Have a daily affirmations practice. Affirmations work on your subconscious mind to remove the energy blocks you may have unknowingly accumulated within you. By repeating positive and motivational affirmations early in the morning you lay the foundation of a powerful day. This practice will help you get in touch with your most integral values and mental and emotional needs and help you engage with shadow-work
as well. This in turn will help you powerfully awaken your spirituality.
After our morning rituals, Honey prepares a glass of lemon water. He prepares fruits for our smoothies or create a nice fruit bowl. Wednesdays are special—our fruit bowl day. As he heads off to his workout, I complete Robert’s lunch preparations.
A Smooth Day Ahead
With lemon water in hand and a nourishing meal ready, we step into the day. Our morning habits set an informal rhythm—a gentle cadence that carries us through work, creativity, and life’s surprises. It’s not just about routines; it’s about intention, love, and balance.
Practice: Awaken your spirituality
Finally, Connect with Nature.
Connecting with nature in the morning grounds you with Earth. Feeling connected in this way can help you discover a spiritual bond with all that is Natural and reduce feelings of overwhelm, alienation and anxiety. Being with nature in the morning will bring an amazing sense of peace within you. Spend time outdoors, whether in a garden, park, or simply observe the sunrise. Walk or meditate outside. If you can’t go outside, open a window or step out onto your balcony. That’s all you need to let your spirit soar and feel a sense of connection and support with the larger Universe.
Here’s an extra ritual to awaken your spirituality is to have a japa or mantra practice.
Don’t worry you won’t get late for work. All you have to do is give it 5 minutes every day. See mantra vibrations have the power to reset the vibrations and magnetic field in your
body and mind at a sub-atomic level. The benefits you derive from this will be physical, emotional and spiritual. You can choose any japa that resonates with you or just repeat
“Om” three times with your eyes closed. Let these sounds permeate every part of you. Feel as though you are awash with the potency of these primordial vibrations and
protected by them as you begin your day.
